"Epiphany, (Koine Greek: ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, "manifestation", "striking appearance"[1]) or Theophany,[2] (Ancient Greek (ἡ) Θεοφάνεια, Τheophaneia) meaning "vision of God",[3] which falls on 6 January, is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus Christ. I was asked how do you know you are a poet...
I answered...
and so it is...
when you find bits of paper in your pocket bearing lines
when you realize you did not take your vitamins because you forgot to eat
when you keep writing even though the pencil point is broken
when you hear words in your heart and cannot write them fast enough
when you hear the crackle of a fallen leaf and know it is a song
when you see a smile and feel the wondrous charm of joy
when you are embraced by the MUSE that refuses to let go
when you hear silence and know it is an orchestra divine
when you grasp the lint in your pocket and feel its inspiration
when you see each season by its ceaseless cycles of grace
when you find that every expression, every gesture of nature calls your attention
when you breathe and feel the miracle of life that is you
when you sigh in delight and amazement at the poem you just completed
and so it is ... you know.

Ravage not the land nor sea
Heed the echoed cry and plea
Heard in the crashing wave and thunderous sky
In valleys, plains and mountains high
Hold this Earth in reverent care
Protect our gifts of land, water and air

Behold the wonder of each bloom, leaf and stem
Trees to flourish, 'tis bounty's call

Leaves of green, red, orange, crimson and gold

on river banks as waters flow to the ocean to the sea

"Throughout the ages, the language of poetry has held a special power to lend us courage, to give us the vision of those who endured and to hazard ourselves boldly in the world we must inhabit. The insights and imagery of poetry can take us beyond any small perimeter we have made for ourselves and call us to look life straight in the eyes. Once we establish ourselves at this conversational frontier, we find ourselves living amidst revelation, the recipients of visible and invisible help we could not previously recognize. Poetry tells us we can not only be found by a greater world, but also enlarge ourselves to become a participating element in that new future.

The task of the poet is to articulate the “it” in our lives, or our society’s lives - whatever “it” happens to be at any given time - and to try and overhear ourselves say something from which we cannot retreat.

Great poetry tells us that the stakes in life are very high and that failure is possible, yet it does not treat living as a burden. Seasons of Change

seasons of change be they ever known
by the love and praise we have shown
live as we may a metaphor sweetly sublime
the waxing and waning, the breath of light divine
the rising and setting of each day's sun
our tasks, our deeds, destiny's work done
and when we pause in reverie's embrace
each blessing to hold to its sacred place
precious be these treasured moments to share
all in the glory of God's loving care.

Bamboo in graceful bow and sway
Holding the sun’s light in brilliant verdant array
In joyous abandon the silence to greet
The chorus of sound as leaf and wind meet
Dancing shadows of supple canes I to behold
Among the lithe and lush leaves touches of gold
Leaves and canes in supple surrender bow
Beauty, strength, gentleness be the bamboo’s vow
'Tis early morn, gifts of this Autumn day
The wind, the song and bamboo canes at play.

Vincent Van Gogh perceived the vibrating energy of light and life itself. He captured the quivering, pulsing fields that embraced his vision. All was moving, all was dimension, all was effect. I experienced the deepest of pleasure in being present with Van Gogh's original works on exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC.

on river banks as waters flow to the ocean to the sea
from Spring to Winter be there ever seen
budding and seasoned leaves of green
dew touched green greets the dawn
the harvest from nature's bounty drawn
in heights that soar a tree does stand
the splendor of green in sublime command
shades and hues upon branch and bough
the grace of green 'tis nature's vow.

holds to the light of the new day
branches of color in splendor's array
the noon hour in PRESENCE be
the touch of a warming sun cast upon me

The MUSE Beckons

a poetic word ever held in heart
'tis the beauty and bounty of Earth
from which love and art shall not depart
express I the need and sounding plea
the MUSE beckons beckons within me
with palette with word
be it ever to prevail
nature, its freedom and grace
with love let us hail
embrace the heart and love of others known
hold dear the care and vision they have shown
we as ONE as resolute intention divine
hold to a shared destiny, be it yours be it mine.

rooted and holding to the nurturing earth
branch and bough take to nature's charm
heard are the winsome winds

sweet melody of season's grace
the silent quiver of the darkened sky

Blessed be the commune with this Oak of many many shared moons. It stands outside my window keeping watch over each changing season. I can feel its dance and listen joyfully to its lilting melodies.

It is the felt life force of the Oak that is represented in this image, resounding with life, endurance and bounty... waves of vibratory energy reaching out to embrace us with the wisdom of the seasons.

The Oak stands as a metaphor and symbol of strength, perseverance, endurance... a wood that graces our homes, a spirit that touches our hearts, a knowing that speaks to our souls... Sacred indeed. Throughout my home there is solid oak flooring with a natural oil finish - with each step I express my gratitude for the Oak's humble submission, as it lies before me and underfoot. A dance be ever shared...

Magenta Be The Mood...

Magenta is a deep purplish-red color that is a primary subtractive color for light. Sometimes identified as fuchsia or hot pink, magenta is a mixture of red and blue wavelengths that cannot be generated by a single wavelength of light.

Magenta dye was discovered in 1859 — the same year as the Battle of Magenta. The dye, also known as fuchsine, was named in memory of the blood shed during the battle between French and Austrian forces in the small Italian city.
